We would like to invite Slovenian secondary schools to the EDU-ARCTIC project, which offers free educational tools, e.g. online lessons for students 13-19 years old.
We will be grateful for disseminating this invitation among Slovenian schools.
There is also a workshop in Warsaw in September, which we organise for teachers from Central and Eastern Europe and we offer travel grants and accommodation for this event. At least one teacher form Slovenia, who will register for the workshop before 15 May will get the grant.

Information on the project is presented below. In case of any questions, do not hesitate to contact me (my details below).
Kind regards,
Agata Goździk

Dear STEM Teachers

Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences invites European secondary schools to take part in EDU-ARCTIC project's activities. You may take part in online lessons with scientists, but also win a trip to a polar station.

ABOUT EDU-ARCTIC

EDU-ARCTIC is an EU-funded project focused on using Arctic research as a vehicle to strengthen science education curricula  across Europe. It aims to encourage students aged 13 to 20 to pursue further education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Students participating in the project will have a unique possibility to get to know what scientific careers are like and learn more about different research disciplines while learning how to apply the scientific methods and develop crucial problem-solving skills.

WHY

Why does length of day and night depend on latitude?

How dark is polar night at different locations within the Arctic Circle?

What do reindeers have in common with the Earth’s rotation angle?

We will answer these and many more questions during online lessons conducted by scientists.
We also offer:

  • workshops for STEM teachers to be held in 3 European countries
  • Polarpedia – online encyclopedia about the Arctic region, explaining polar phenomena and scientific terminology in several national languages
  • Arctic competitions - a chance for students and their teachers to win a trip to an Arctic research station
  • environmental monitoring
